I can’t get enough of the back to school season when school supplies are literally everywhere. I have a cup of pre-sharpened Ticonderoga pencils that fills my heart with joy EVERY time I sit down at my desk. Yeah, I’m weird and I’m okay with that. I mean, who doesn’t like to hug school supplies? Pocket charts are one of my FAVORITE tools in the classroom. They’re so versatile, kid friendly, and they keep me organized (i.e. SANE). Carson Dellosa recently sent me their newest Sparkle & Shine pocket charts to review and I must say, I’M IN LOVE! The black and gold design is gorgeous and pairs wonderfully with bright pops of color!!
There are so many different ways I like to use pocket charts in the classroom, especially if there are rotations involved!! Literacy centers, classroom jobs, math stations, etc. Using a pocket chart just makes it THAT much easier to rotate. The Essential Pocket Chart pictured above is AMAZING! It’s BIG and can be placed on a wall or bulletin board. I also love these GORGEOUS, bright sentence strips for interactive writing that fit perfectly in your pocket charts! I love to use them for class poems and word work! They also have some smaller word strips HERE.
If you want instant engagement, I highly suggest a POINTER! It’s a game changer with pocket charts. Students LOVE to pretend to be the teacher and point to everything!
